Just FYI, I thought I'd share this keyboard stand with this group if you haven't seen it yet. It's called the Monolith by QuikLok. I have used nearly every stand on the market and this is now my favorite. It's one piece and it folds completely flat (the two upright sections swivel inwards). Sets up in two seconds. I have an older QuikLok mic stand that slides into the end behind the keyboard supports. It's extremely stable, there's lots of foot clearance for pedals and stuff, and it looks great on stage. Costs more than most at around $140 through places like Musicians Friend, but I find it worth it. http://www.quiklok.com/search_list.taf?_function=detail&Layout_0_uid1=33262

The Pro: I've been performing with the Monolith since 11/2001 and agree: Great stand ! The things I like most about it are:
1) absolutely NO keyboard stand bounce ! 2) ez to access foot pedals because there are no cross beams to get in the way. 3) folds completely flat. I transport mine on the floor of my car trunk, taking up no appreciatable space.
The only negative is that it's a little heavier than I'd prefer, and I do miss having a mic boom add on attachement.
The mic boom that works with the QuikLok Z-series stands also works with the Monolith (this is not mentioned at all on the QuikLok website, I found out by chance since I also own a Z-stand). The boom attachment is called the QuikLok Z-728. Although the stand will fold with the boom attached, it won't fit in my car trunk with it on so I have to remove it for transport. Like Scott, I find that the Monolith lays flat in the trunk and takes very little space.

Thanks Pro: GREAT news to hear! Exactly where does it attach to the Monolith? How quickly & easily is it to attach/dettach? Could you by any chance post a pic of the Z-728 boom mounted to the Monolith?
Donny: Click on the http link I gave to see the pic. I wasn't able to get the pic to appear directly on the post because apparently my pic gallery webiste won't allow this.
I have no pics to post, however the plastic end caps on the part of the Monolith stand that your keyboard sits on can be popped out with a screwdriver. The mic boom slides in there neatly.

Donny: Odd that you aren't able to access the pic. I tried it on my computer, and the pic appears.
No big deal anyway, I think you saw the pic earlier, but just wanted to point out the Monolith in that shot. You could also try accessing the pics here: http://pbase.com/scottyee/gigshots
Ok I saw it on your site. Its a nice stand but for my SUPER Busy gig schedule The less I have to carry the better. Thats why I use the stand mounted Mic Boom I described in my above post. I also love the firm support, I hate the mic boom shaking when I sing as in conventional mic booms.

1) yes, 2) NO WAY!
For this particular gig, I was hired to provide an hour of dinner show entertainment. Part of the deal was that I could plug into the DJ's sound system, saving me the trouble (& saving them $) of having to bring my PA system. The karaoke stuff started later, long after I was gone.
