In an earlier thread donny had asked that more forum members put up stuff to be heard. "PLAY PLAY PLAY" were the words he used, or something to that effect. I did upload the following song, but it looked like you had to register with the host to listen. So, here's the song with a different host, an original with vocals, played on my Korg i30 (style Tikitikita, no tweaks).

Hope you enjoy it.

p.s. It takes a while to download, hope you'll think it's worth the wait.

Hi Renig.....I gave it a listen
when I got home from a gig tonight......Bravo very well done ! ....Kool infectous Beat too reminiscent of a song I always perform called "Love is in the Air" The vocals were very good but were a bit too low in volume against the music mix but that can be adjusted....I'm glad you posted your work ....I hope it will inspire more people to do so also....after all
"THATS WHAT WE ALL DO"
Keep em coming my friend & thanx so much for sharing!

Renig,
you have a very pleasant voice, but I have to agree with Donny that the vocals were too low; furthermore, while the keyboard was correctly playing in stereo, your voice was too much focused or centered in the middle of the field and did not spread enough, so to speak.
Another observation: you uploaded a .wav file, and its size was huge (44 Mb). I have a DSL connection, and it took me 2 minutes to download your song, but 44 Mb are way too many for someone on a dial-in connection. So, if you are looking for comments from more listeners, try to convert the .wav file to .mp3 before uploading. This way you will greatly reduce its size and reach a wider audience.

renig ... nice job with an interesting composition ... I agree with Donny and Dreamer that the vocals could have been more 'up front' ...

Thanks guys, for the listen and I do appreciate your comments, all valid points.

I do have another song to upload that's quite different in style from this one, but I'll try to convert it to mp3 - not sure how I go about this, but I'll give it a shot.

It may draw similar comments, but these are my first attempts at recording in digital, so I've obviously got a bit to learn about this format. Thanks again.

Renig,
to convert your file you can choose among a lot of programs, like Music Match Juke Box, Sound Forge, Quicktime and (I think) even Windows Media Player. Just choose a conversion rate above 128 Kb (for better sound quality) and you are set.
P.S.: maybe before converting you might want to normalize your .wav file to 90 dB (this way it would sound at a higher volume but without clipping. i.e. distorting).

Hey Renig,

Very nice, You could bring the vocals a little more into the mix but not too much as I think you would lose the impact of the rythmic backing.

It's a personal thing but I would substitute the bass sound with a more percusive one as it sounds a tad on the "boomy" side.

But a really nice job - Just shows you that you don't need the latest toys to get a really good result.

Thanks for sharing - Hoping to hear more

Thanks also, Dreamer and Keith. I just uploaded another song. This one is a country ballad, not everyone's cup of tea, but I don't restrict myself to any one genre in my writing. This time it is an mp3 so download time shouldn't be an issue. The link is in a new post, "Song for dnj - Part II". Cheers!
