I finally got a chance to play a Roland Discover5 today,,and guess what? It ain't bad..It has the sounds that I like[including Scat]..You can modify sequences on the fly. Mic and harmonizer are good with good effects..On the lyric read out, the display shows the actual chords automatically.. in a way that gives you time to know the next chord in progression..This feature alone is enough to want the board....The keys are "superb" like the G600, as the Roland add stated for the G600;[in reality they are just average]..Overall I like it a lot,,and will being getting one soon[I hope]..

Fran, I can't believe my eyes. Is the G1000 coming to an end - the longest lived keyboard on this forum?

I wouldn't think so, since it's not an arranger. Will probably be used as a second keyboard. What are the voices like?

Starkeeper, the voices are similar[if not exact] to the VA series..

The Discover's voices are from the VA7's 4th and latest bank...about 1450 + voices I think ?

Fran,

I played a Roland Discover 5 about three months ago. It happened on the store of our best friend Notlos . You are right, it is not too bad, but IMHO , I should wait for a module of Discover.....

By the way, the service of the team of the store of Notlos is very superb... Dirk is himself a great keyboardist and I had the pleasure to play with him ...Très bien...

Hello everyone:
The Discover5 do NOT have Styles, very good sounds, excelent harmonizer and of course a midi file player.....I probably will not consider this keyboard as an arranger........

From what I heard on the demo .... the harmonizer was les than impressive. This was the demo that someone posted a link to about 3-4 months ago.. it was a live concert showing and the voices sounded like the original Digitech ..... phony and robotic. Maybe the audio in the file was not doing it justice. I'll have to listen again, but I was not excited .... and there are no styles, no speakers .... come to think of it - who cares if the harmonizer sounds good. This one is not in my future.(surprise, surprise)
On with the search !
