are the similar/identical to 2100?or 3000?
I know the 2100 keys size are pretty small.

When you look at the repair manual you'll quickly discover that there is virtually no difference in the operation between the 2000, 2100 or 3000's keys. They are mechanically the same. But, for most folks, it don't make a damned bit of difference. I have replaced keypads in the 2000, 2100, 5700 and 740 for lots of folks who pound on their keyboard keys as if they were Jerry Lee Lewis. They were never made for that, and from what I hear, neither were regular piano keys. Ask anyone in the repair biz and they'll tell you the same thing.

I really do believe that the response of teh 3k's keys is better than the 2k, and 21k. I'm not sure if it's downward throw, or stiffness, or both, but the 3k is more friendly to my hands than the predesessors were. I don't care what the book says ..... it's different somehow...... then again, my psr hisses.
(I think it's the internal effects because I play rhodes sounds mostly, and as soon as I touch the keys, the hiss begins.

Dave - my 2000 has developed a nasty hiss too. Sadly it's making the noise all the time, unrelated to whether keys are being pressed.

Makes no hiss when the headphones are on.

Anyone else with this?

(btw, it's a good reason to buy a 3000 if I ever needed one...)

I'm convinced that it's a combination of the effects section and the speaker response.

Yamaha is no dummy - they design these things to sound good out of the box, but as soona s we begin to customize and tweak ..... the shortcoming are more noticable. Maybe I'm in the minority of buyers, but I need to hear more sizzle out of their drum kits and as a Rhodes lover - I rely on the EPs way more than the acoustic piano sounds ... they need to clean upo the effects section so that the noice floor is reduced.

The effects section is very versatile and practical, but it's pretty noisy compared to other gear. In the unaltered state - the psr3k sounds great ...... a little dull in the high end, but great. As soon as you add some high end EQ ..... the "hissing of summer lawns" all over again.

I agree with UD. I played the 3000 and the 2100 in a shop and could compare them. The keys on the 3000 were slightly better than the 2100, the Tyros a little bit better than the 3000. I tested them with a very fast finger exercise across several octaves - one I can't do very well on "real" keys of a weighted keyboard. Maybe for someone with more strength in the fingers the difference between 3000 en 2100 is not noticable.



And...? Any luck buying the 3000 sofar?
