Hi,

I finally managed to get my own site (with IUMA) so that I can share some of my latest efforts on the PA80 with you. Go to:
http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/johnny_s/index-1.html

All songs have been recorded here in my livingroom in one take, and that includes the singing of my good friend Susan.......

What you hear is basically the PA-80 .

Note that there may be some hiccups with the streaming ,hence for best results you are well advised to download the songs as MP3s.
Looking forward to your comments and constructive criticism, either here or on my site.

regards,
john

John. Your songs keep improving & keep getting better . Great selection of classic pop/rock tunes & all professionally produced. The Korg PA80 is ideally suited to your musical style. I was particularly moved by your rendition of Rod Stewart's "I Don't Want To Talk About It". You have an intense personal style which draws the listener in. My only criticism of the song is that at in the 1st & 5th measure of the instrumental break you play a disonant minor chord which jumps out at me (seemly inappropriately). Was this intentional? Otherwise, a beautifully produced song. Keep on making and sharing your music with us. Great to see you back on the arranger forum. - Scott

Nice work, John. Does Susan do any Carpenter's songs? She has a nice low range that would probably suit her well, Ya think?

John,

Very nice songs, I particuly liked "Nights in White Satin", "Hotel California". Also, the PA80 has a wonderfull "LIVE" sound for sure, sorry folks but I "only" hear that with the SD-1. XD9, PA80 units.

good luck to you in your musical endeavors....

Donny nj

Hi there,

Thank you all for your kind words as regards the songs on my new website.

One of my objectives was to show you the quality of the Korg PA80 which I think is a great keyboard really. I entirely agree with DNJ that as far as live realism goes there is nothing to beat the Ketrons and the Korg.
I know many of you are banking on the new Yamaha and I am not excluding the possibility it being a fantastic keyboard ,after all we have progressed another two years, but personally I have always been rather disappointed with any Yamaha keyboard that I purchased in the past.
Anyway beauty is in the eye of the beholder, nor is there any accounting for tastes......

As to your other comments here:
Scott, about the disonant chords that you hear in the Rod Stewart song, there was not intention whatsover, I just screwed up plain and simple, but I was so impressed with the recording myself that I thought 'what the heck....!!!" . Anyway I will try and re-record it with Susan.

As to Uncle Dave:
I don't think I will be able to persuade Susan to do Carpenters stuff, much as I like them myself, as she is more into rocky and contemporary music, and she has done more than her fair share to meet me half way.
However I have recorded some more songs with her that I will include on my site within the next few days, so just check it out if you like from time to time.

Incidentally, the solo guitar sound on Nights in White Satin was also from the Roland E70, as is the (priceless) acoustic piano.......

kind regards,
john
