This may have been touched on before. My new PSR 2000 has an inconsistency in the upright bass voice from F# to B, 1 1/2 octaves below middle C. In this range the string harmonic decay is much too sudden and the voice seems to die instantly. Over the rest of the keyboard that I've checked, the decay is much more gradual and the voice is actually quite impressive. Is this a glitch in my particular unit or is this a universal problem with the 2000? I've sent e-mail to Yamaha but haven't seen a reply yet.

I just played the Upright Bass sound on my PSR2000 in the store and I don't hear anything you have described as sounding different. At each octave it sounds the same to me.

George, thanks for your help. Apparently I have a problem unit. I assume there's no easy fix and suspect I'll be taking the keyboard back.

That far below middle C seems awfully low to me, lower than the register of a real bass. When I play that low, the bass doesn't sound very good, but it doesn't suddenly decay if I hold it down. Check your DSP for tone to see if the voice is tuned at -2 octaves. I think that's the default. I find the bass sound pleasing as long as I don't play below E2.
