Dear George...

I was not so often here in this Forum in the last time, cause PSR2000 seems to disappear a little bit after the release of TYROS. After reading a lot of threads about TYROS it seems to be that yoju are a real expert in YAMAHA boards and that you have good contacts to YAMAHA.

Of course... TYROS is a great machine and after a demonstration of Peter Baartmanns I joined here in Nuernberg/Germany and a little bit of discussion with my wife (you know this you will get a golden ring and I will get the TYROS ;-) ) I ordered my TYROS last week. Maybe it will arrive before Christmas, maybe not.

But I have a real big problem up to now. I play in serveral live bands (no accmp needed) and did a lot of sound and registration programming on my PSR2000 (about two or three hundred registration).

Do you know, if there is a way how to transfer the PSR2000 regs to the TYROS. We did a testing yesterday at my local music dealer. Neither TYROS is able to read the PSR2000 regs directly from disk nor the conversion program delivered on the TYROS CD-ROM.

I hope I do not have to transfer all reg parameters manually as I did after upgrading from PSR740 to PSR2000. It was a work of one week time.

It would be great if you could help me or if you could give me a contact person at YAMAHA who can answer this.

Again sorry for asking you so directly but at the moment I'm a little bit lost.

Best greetings from Germany

Hi Terry...

of course I know this, but this is not my problem. In all my registrations on the PSR2000 I have voice + Harmony/Echo + sometime Tempo + in only two voice a Multipad and a midi song linked, both located in the internal FLASH of PSR2000.

Is it possible to read a PSR2000 xxx.S917.reg file with the TYROS directly from disk or do I need a conversion program? If I need a program, where can I get it? Is it posiible to use the TYROS conversion program you receive on the CD-ROM delieverd with the TYROS?

Is there anybody outside who has the same problem? Like Scottee (you own a PSR2000 too, I guess) or someone else??

Thanks for yout patience, specially to you Terry

greetings

Everything I can find on this subject leads me to believe you CANNOT transfer custom registrations from the PSR2000 to the Tyros.
I know exactly your frustrations. I went thru the same thing when I went from the 740 to the 2000.

Hi Eddie...

hope this is not true. I needed one week work for going from PSR740 to PSR2000. Cause I'm now playing in three bands I have three times more registrations at the moment. This means three weeks of work... oh YAMAHA...

greetings

My friend just went thru this going from a 2k to a 9k. Yes.. he had to redo ALL his registrations over again, which took Forever. But even if it worked you would have to tweak all the registration levels and some sounds anyway to suit the new keyboard..

Datablues,
I have contacted one of my sources at yamaha and have asked for a reply regarding your question. Either he will post it here or let me know the answer as soon as he can.

Hi Dnj...

of course you need always some adjustments, but doing everything new... it's a boring work. And if this is the way I have to go, I will not understand YAMAHA ever!

If someone has already a PSR9000/pro, then he will think twice before upgrading to a TYROS. But for the midrange level like PSR2000 it is a big step forward to go over to TYROS and as I see... a lot of people even here at the forum will do.

So why there is no conversion for PSR2000, cause even the screens of the TYROS OS are nearly the same (without color) as on the PSR2000.
For me the handling of the TYROS is no problem, maybe one hour to see the new features... but everything else like Sound Generator, Harmony/Echo, DSP settings and so on are absolutly the same as before on the PSR2000!!! So why is there such a big difference in the registrations???

To George...

thank you so much... really. Hope you will get some good news for me!!!

Greetings

Datablues,
I just got an email from Mark Anderson at Yamaha PK and he is passing your question on to Yamaha, Japan for an answer. He said it usually takes overnight to get a reply. I'll keep you posted.
