Double the sounds of the PSR-2000 with some from Tyros and USB connnectivity.

Not good enough. The 2100 also needs the styles and mega voices from the Tyros and an internal hard drive. If not hard drive, it needs other mass storage like a memory card or memory stick.

Yamaha has given the PSR2100 a USB interface and file management software. They are pushing the idea of using a laptop with it.

Other than the USB port, it looks as if all the changes that could have been made by software upgrade IF THE 2000 HAD BEEN DELIVERED AS PROMISED.

It's ok to shout as old wounds are reopened But I doubt doubling sound ROM would have been possible with just a software update.

I wonder if it still has the 2000 key`s or the "Tyros" key`s.
Looks like a good replacment for the Y2K ,if it has better action and better construction.
However it looks like a "beefed-up" Y2K and maybe some "ghost" built in

What angers me looking at this keyboard is that it is exactly the same chassis and exactly the same buttons as the PSR2000. All Yamaha is doing is changing a couple of chips inside and adding a USB interface. They have ignored all of the pleas from owners who have asked for separate buttons for the intros and endings. It doesn't look any more sturdy than the PSR2000. It looks identical. Yamaha was lazy when they came up with this model. No innovation.

When I first saw Cliff's note, I assumed he was suggesting what the next PSR2000 might have. I only later discovered that there really was a new press release (about 6 months early I think) and the replacement for the PSR-2000 looks like it has only modest changes. The press release didn't give any real specs and there is no info at the Yamaha site. I like my 2000 but I don't care for the internal styles. That's OK, because we can load styles from floppy very fast. But I'd sure prefer some more storage to hold user styles. If not the hard drive, then there should be some other technical solution. My wife's Sony camera can hold many MEGABYTES of information on a tiny card. Why can't my PSR-2000 do that? The new keyboard looks pretty much like the keyboard. Why can't we simply take a board out of the old and replace it with a new board, like one does with computers? Maybe the specs will be great. Maybe not. We'll just have to wait and see.

WHAT ! Now we have to read the Cliff Notes on these products too ???????
