Hi, i was wondering if a keyboard with built-in speakers would provide adequate sound to be played in a 6 piece band? I was looking at a Casio WK1630 a few weeks ago and was thinking about buying it but wasnt sure if this had enough power to be played in a band, well the keyboard has since been sold so I'm looking around again. I also found an Alesis QS6.1 which I'm sure you guys know does not have integrated speakers, but also costs a lot more. So my question is...would i be able to buy a keyboard similar to the Casio WK1630 thats similar in specs and still have enough power to be heard over other instruments, or would i have to buy something like the Alesis. Thanks a lot, sorry for the ignorance, I'm very new to this. Jim

Not even the Alesis will have enough volume? it doesn't have integrated speakers, it has left, right outs if i remember right. Which keyboard do you guys think is better? the Casio WK3000 or the Alesis QS6.1? Also, would i have to get an amp specially for a keyboard or can i just hook it up to my guitar amp? Thanks again.

Well I'll be using it to practice on since I'm new to it and stuff, but I'll also most likely be using it in a band with 5 or so other keyboards, as an experimental type thing. I will probably just be using the basic funtions of the keyboard for now, and not be using a computer to tweak stuff until later on once i get the hang of it. It doesn't have to be a very high quality keyboard, it's just for fun and not professional by any means.
You still won't be able to play in a band with onboard amplification. You will need an external amp to be able to be heard above the drums, guitar and bass. Starkeeper

Hmmm Actually, if this band you are talking about, with 5 or so other keyboards, are all also only using keyboards with built in speakers, then YES you probably can get by with the casio or a similar board. Your question is difficult to answer due to so much missing information.
