Maybe many of you have already seen the Videos from Musikmesse 03 but I found one in particular that was very interesting. It is actually regarding the Yamaha 01X mLAN Music Production System but the dialogue is on one hand eyebrow raising and also amusing. Without further ado here is the direct link to the video: http://trio.harmony-central.com/ramgen/Musikmesse03/Yamaha-01X.rm

It is a Real Audio clip so you will need the RealOne Player to view it. If you'd rather go to the site itself it is here: http://messe.harmony-central.com/Musikmesse03/
Again, it is the Yamaha 01X mLAN Music Production System video. (The site could possibly detect your Media player if you don't have RealOne and automatically switch to your Player format but I am not sure about this.)

I will give you a hint as to what the gist of the dialogue I am referring to is; ie., "USB 1.1 VS Firewire" in a Hardware based Music System. PS: Now if Yamaha would only listen to their own advice regarding their Arranger Keyboards. Another PS: USB 2.0 specification has a FASTER transfer rate than Firewire and I for one would rather see USB 2.0 implemented in future Arrangers because of that fact. Intel Corp. seems to agree too. http://www.infosatellite.com/news/2001/11/h301101intel_boasts_usb.html

Your opinions are welcome Also your opinions on the 01X mLAN Music Production System too. "IMO, another good reason to start adding Digital I/O's to Arrangers" Now, if they would just add USB 2.0 to future versions, that would be the icing on the cake.

Best regards,
Mike

Yamaha's O1x looks very promising, but seems to rely much on their mLan interface which has not become widely accepted outside of Yamaha-world (don't get me started on why it's not on any of their arrangers...). And the 01x already has direct competition from Tascam:

There are a slew of Firewire and USB 2.0 audio interfaces coming out this summer so the real question is whether you really need a $1700 mixer/control surface. Hmmmm...
