My KN7000 has am impute with a volume control for audio. I use the impute for my laptop midi files.
Can I use the usb ports on my Psr2100 and laptop to do the same thing?

Thank you, John C.

The USB port on the Yamaha should import MIDI quite well, but not audio, as your post was titled. The laptop will send midi data to the kb, and the kb will play the actual notes.
Is this the answer you expected, or are you under the inpression that you will hear the laptop's soundcard through the 2100?
(you won't)

No, you can't. As UD says, you can have the kb play midi files. The Tyros has audio inputs, but not the smaller PSRs. I miss that feature now that I'm using SD1 also. However, I just go directly from the laptop into two channels on the Barbetta Sonas.

Actually, you can do this, but not throught he USB. You'll have to employ a small mixer, plug the mixer into the LINE-IN/MIC jack and set the switch to LINE-IN. Now you can plug both your mic and laptop output directly into the mixer and fire it through the keyboard. Keep in mind, however, that the LINE-IN/MIC input is MONO--NOT STEREO. The PSR-3000 and Tyros has an auxilary stereo input in addition to the line-in/mic input.

Good Luck,

Gary

Hi John,
what is the actual soundsource for your midifiles,
the soundcard in your computer (ie some sort of a soft synth )
or is it just straight forward midi
ie the midifiles are in your computer & you want your psr to play them via usb cable, in short, your psr is used as a sound module?

best wishes
Rikki
