should i get the Yamaha DGX202? cuz it looks and sounds really good. if u have any others suggestions feel free to post em. thanks in advance

Well, im upgrading. Im gonna use it for alot of things like to practice on, compose stuff, and other things. Right now im using a Casio CTK-518. I got it when i was in 4th grade im in 9th grade right now, lol. Im gonna sell the CTK for 75 dollars to my grandma cuz she wants to buy it. Shes also my piano teacher.

U shuld get the yamaha. i once had 1, it was great.

tho mine was not the same version. it was still good. had over 100 diff. instruments u could choose, preprogrammed songs, hooked to the t.v, and the puter, but not very good on the puter, cause this was a while ago. Don't get lesser version cause its cheaper, get the more expensive one cause then it'll b better. It'll take longer to save the money, but once u have it, it'll b better 2 have then the cheaper one...

ok, i just came back from best buy and tried out the DGX-200, they both seem the same. one word. AWSOME! very very good keyboard. ur outa ur mind if u think its bad.

The sounds are decent as I mentioned on my review. If that is all you care about then it might be fine for you. But if you use it for live play and need to save settings into registration memories like many of the pros do then you are going to be in trouble. Also it is quite clunky to change voices and parameters like transpose, etc. In live situation, sometimes it is quite often necessary to change things very quickly. The registration memories and the easy access to change basic parameters are of paramount importance. Have you consider that ?

Well my uncle art plays out and he uses a Casio WK-1630. I e-mailed him about comparing the casio and the yamaha. He didn't answer the question, but he said hes gonna come over after the first of the year and help me pick out a very good one. And he lives like 100 miles away too! I feel special

I also owned CASIO WK-1630 for 2 weeks and returned it to the store. The internal speaker is very nice and loud. The registration memories are also quite usable. BUT after listening to the voices for a week, the voices are THIN compared to other models. It becomes unbearable after a while. I noticed this on the grand piano. The electric pianos are not usable IMO. Access to voices and commonly used parameters are also a bit awkward.

YAMAHA PSR550 is usable, decent and can be used for pro use, live use, over the amplified speaker and you will have a decent sounding system. But it costs around $500. I know squeak in this forum will part with it for much less.

Other alternatives are Yamaha PSR1000 or a used PSR2000. All can be had for less than $700 these days. This system is used by pros BUT the key feel is terrible IMO although some pros seem to be OK with that.

It depends what you are going to use the keyboard for. If for home use and composition then you probably don't need registration memories or quick access to parameters as much.

I bought all my kybds at Guitar Center and if I don't like it, I return it within 30 days. It has worked out great ! NEVER buy a keyboard without trying it out for 1 week or two. You will discover its weakness in that period of time and you will be thankful that you can still return it without any financial loss but your time.
