Even this OS update didn´t give me what I wanted and Yamaha still doesn´t care of its customers that have Macs. The idea of making the OS update with floppy disks is very stupid and out of date. PC users can do it with USB and it is very easy, but Mac users have to start messing up with 21 floppy disks.
The worst thing is that I don´t have a floppy drive and I am not going to buy one. Macs haven´t had floppy drives for years so this way of updating is for those who own an older Mac and I think that almost all Tyros owners that use Mac, have a new model without the floppy drive like iMac.
This OS update didn´t make me any happier. In fact it made me even more angry. With this OS update I realized that Yamaha even despises Mac users.
Micco, I'm sure you must have some friend with a pc that would upgrade the Tyros for you, or perhaps you can buy a used laptop/desktop and they sell dirt cheap, just for occasions like this, while you're waiting for the day if and when Yamaha makes their stuff more Mac friendly.
I doubt Yamaha hates Mac users and it is more a matter of economics.
I'd place more of the blame on the iMac, which has NO way to store data outside of the computer anyway without an external device. The absence of a floppy drive on newer Macs was purely a cost-cutting measure for Apple, not an indication of what their customers wanted. Apple wants you to buy whatever storage device you need, so here's a USB floppy drive for your Mac under $50: http://www2.warehouse.com/product.asp?pf%5Fid=DR14623&cat=pc&blind=
I really take exception to your Topic that the "Tyros OS update Sucks". You couldn't be more wrong.

Al, FWIW, I agree IMO it's the Mac's that suck not the Tyros. Apple ahould get their head out of their .....uh well you know. If someone wants to be a diehard Mac loyalist, while 99% of the world is geared towards PC, then they are not going to get a whole lot of sympathy from me about it. I've gone to buy a Mac on several occasions and never did with that being the primary reason. Terry

I agree with Al (kbrkr). Micco's anger and frustration towards Yamaha here is unwarranted.
Except for Yamaha, I don't believe there's ANY keyboard manufacterer out there (except possibly Technics) who offer downloadable 'user initiated' OS updates other than via floppy diskettes. Yamaha should be commended for being ahead of the game in offering both direct 'PC to Keyboard via USB' and floppy diskette 'user initiated' OS upgrade options. - Scott
Many of my friends have PCs. Even my girlfriend has a PC and I did the last Tyros update with her computer. Still, I hate to carry my keyboard because of one damn update. I have to remove the music stand and speakers every time I want to carry it, because with the it doesn´t fit in my keyboard bag. The same thing happens if I go on a gig. The truth is that PSR9000 was very handy compared to Tyros even with the weight. Otherwise I am very satisfied with my keyboard. Someday I will write my review of it here.
I don´t think it is economics why Apple decided not to have floppy drives in their computer. Apple has a DVD-R-drive which is very important for me. As a video professional the DVD is the best format for me to share my stuff and more and more of my customers wants their video program that I made on a DVD. Not on a bad quality VHS.
