I have recently purchased an X5D/R, and use Encore (Ver 4.1.1) as a notation program and sequencer (to audition arrangements I write). The problem is that there doesn't appear to be any way to address the higher banks to get at other Drum Kits than the General Midi plain vanilla one through Encore. Same goes with the program banks other than the G bank.

I would think that it would be in your Encore manual. To do it with Cakewalk you need to use these banks...
A is 0
GM is 7168
Drums is 7968
This is just to give you an example of what to look for. I doubt if they work in Encore.

Thanks, W.S, but its not in my Encore Manual. In fact, Passport Designs is in Chapter 11 so I can't even contact them. What you say about Cakewalk works -- I know, because I've tried it (even though its only half the story -- don't you know about Cakewalk's .INS files?). I just need to know if there's something I've overlooked in Encore (and believe me, I've looked hard) that some guru out there knows about. Sorry you're not he!
