I rememeber this discussion, actually I think I asked it, but what happens if you compose a song and use styles based backing, with or without the intro and endings,

Are styles copyrighted and are not allowed to be used, or are they able to be used,

Also if I use an intro and copyrigth does that mean everytime someone using that intro they owe me money?

Hi Frank,

Yamaha Styles are copyrighted, however, when you purchase a Yamaha arranger keyboard, you get the 'right' to use our Styles in your original recordings. If you're doing covers, you have to talk to somebody else (but once you have permission, feel free to use our Styles).

So if I compose a song and copyright it I don't have to worry if I used a yamaha style in it?
