This is where I get stuck.
"3. Copy extracted 5 files into root directory of Smartmedia."
I have the 5 files downloaded, unziped and saved to my computer's hard drive. But I can't find a way to get the 5 downloaded files onto my SmartMedia card. My computer has no card read/write capability but I have the software and cable to connect the PSR3000 to my computer?
Thanks,
DVJ

You need a Smart Media reader. Very cheap.

If you have a USB thumb drive, copy the files to your thumb drive, then copy them to your smart media card's root directory using the 3000.

Can you copy a program file on the PSR3000? I thought only style, voice, registration, song, and multipad file. Since these program files would not appear on the PSR3000's display, where is there the function to copy files that do not appear on the display?

I believe that you need a SmartMedia reader to get these files onto a SmartMedia card.

Beakybird is correct, the 3K won't recognize the program files to copy and paste them. The unzipped files from the update must reside in the root directory of the Smart Media card. The card reader is the way to go. I saw a 12 in 1 at Sam's for about 12 bucks.
By the way, I've updated my 3K to v1.55 with no problems. I was hopeful that it would enable recognition of the 4 port USB hub and the 3 thumbdrives and 1 WI-FI, however only 2 of the USB drives are recognized. The 4 port hub does make it easier to change drives without the risk of damage to the USB port on the 3K.

You're right. I forgot about the keyboard's inability to see all files. My mistake.:0

Have you tried to rename the file with .sty extension so it will appear on the display and then rename it back to the original extension. I haven't done it but who knows it works.

OK, I will go for a card reader/writer. However, I might as well get one that will allow me to use additional data card formats such as Compact Flash, Secure Digital SD, and so on. Does anyone know a brand/model that would be suitable?
Thanks,
