This is an arranger forum. I don't recall anyone mentioning ClaviNord here. There is one postitive review at Harmony Central. http://www.harmony-central.com/Synth/Data/Clavia/Nord-Electro-2-73-01.html
This product is the reason IMO that Roland came out with the VR760.

Agreed! But the key to your statement is "lightweight".

IMO, the Hammond XK-3 has the best B3 Leslie simulation on the market today. But it would not be considered truly lightweight at 43 lbs. [19.5 kg].

Whereas, the Clavia Nord Electro2 weighs in at a paltry 20.72 lbs. for the 73 Key version and a lighter 17.2 lbs. for the 61 Key version.

But if you don't mind a little added weight, the XK-3 beats the Nord Electro/2 hands down IMO for the best B3 Leslie simulation accuracy. My personal opinion of course.

Best regards,
Mike

Btw, I've played both side by side, using the same sound system. If you get the chance, do play the XK-3 if you can. Your opinion about the best B3 simulator (regardless of weight) may change if you do.

Maybe it already has...

PS: Most of the XK-3 demos you find on the internet don't do the XK-3 justice IMO. You really have to play it in person to really grasp its fantastic B3 Leslie effect and its full, extremely rich sound.

Kaddisfly, the Nord Electro in ANY of the 3 models, the 73, 61 or the module, to me, as a former Hammond B3, X66 player for many years, Nord was the best one even do, the user interface do not have similarities ( drawbars), but with their own design.
I had the chance to compare the Korg BX3, the Roland VK8 and the Nord Electro in the same PA system (flat, so no EQ would favor a particular model), also happen to have a M3 Hammond near by......well.....Nord was incredible!!....besides the BEST electronic Leslie emulation, the other sounded more like tremolo, not leslie.....to my ears and to about other "organ" players (5), the only thing I did not care for in the Nord, was the excesive overdrive even at its lowest setting, but the Vibratos, great !!!.
The other piano sounds are "gravy", but very good too.

Hi Tom, yes I here sometimes. I have a Nord Modular G2, which has the same red color but otherwise is quite different. I have demoed a Nord Electro2 73 and, while it has no arranger features at all, is a very nice keyboard, with 6 octaves in a compact 22 lb form factor. Its organ and electric piano simulations are highly regarded and it includes an acoustic piano sample. I think several of our gigging musicians would be happier if arranger manufacturers could make keyboards as compact and lightweight as Nord does. But--there are no styles, vocal harmony, aftertouch, etc. on the Nord Electro.
