Friends,
since I started using my tonewheel B4 I have experienced the so called latency; in other words there is a delay between the time I press a key and the moment I hear the tone. This delay is reduced but still audible even if I change the program settings. I have read that ASIO has developed drivers for Sound Blaster cards (I have a Live Platinum 5.1) that can overcome this problem. Does anyone know where I could download them?
Thanks in advance,
Andrea

Dear Robby and K880User,
I have downloaded the ASIO drivers and soon, thanks to your help, I will be able to use my tonewheel B4 software to record realistic Hammond tracks on my songs.
Thank you again.
Looking forward to sharing with you all the result of my efforts.

Andrea,
The asio drivers were never developped for the sblive! These were originally developed for emu, where the sblive contains the same chip.
These were originally ripped drivers for emu.
Due to this, not in all cases they are stable. (depending on other system components/devices)

I don't know which software you are using for audio recording, but just in case you experience problems and if your soundreording software supports directX , a very good alternative are the wdm drivers.
Same or better latency as asio, less system sensitive and rock solid.

You can download the patches free from microsoft.
Creative has official wdm drivers for the sblive cards.

I'm not sure, but there might be some delays implicit in the use of a software sound source that cannot be eliminated by use of different drivers. Before I got some hardware XG I used the Yamaha software synth on my PC and that took about half a second to fire up.

In windows, I have at Sound Card Properties: In Port: NONE, Out Port: Direct Sound: Direct Sound (SB Live wave Out) which allows 10 ms latency for play-ahead. That's the best setting possible (slider all to the left) and there is no apparent latency at all.

Using Direct Sound solved any problems I had before.

I had no luck getting any ASIO drivers and don't think I need them any more.

Mbl,
yes, that's exactly the setting that I have now; by the way, both the ASIO and the WDM drivers work fine with the Live, but not the Live Platinum (I have both); the difference is in the digital I/O (in the latter), that are not recognized neither by ASIO nor by WDM.

Could somebody write down, what should I look for on microsoft page to get WDM audio drivers for windows 98. I suppose this is not included in directX package?
Thanks
Luka
