Thanks for sharing the web link to the Yamaha PSR9000-pro info download site. I am VERY anxious to check out this exciting new keyboard. A note: the 76 note keyboard has synth action keys, not fully weighted piano action keys as I had once believed. I am grateful of this because fully weighted piano hammer action keys would made the board too heavy to comfortably transport for gigging.

BTW, my browser (IE 5.5) would not link properly to the site you gave. I had to go to: http://www.musicallin.nl

and then select:
"Yamaha PSR9000pro- professionalworkstation"
to get me to the PDF file page. I was grateful that the actual PDF file is in English as I'm an American and unfortunately cannot read Dutch. Does anyone know what the weight and overall dimensions (length, width, depth)of the PSR9000-Pro is? I didn't see that listed anywhere.

Thanks, Nobby, for the link and for the credit. (Also, thank you Scott for the correction.) I think the PSR9000Pro is an important synth because the world's largest manufacturer of musical instruments has made its best synth an arranger. The PSR9000Pro is a statement, much like a Corvette is a statement for Chevrolet, and Viper is a statement for Chrysler. Korg and Roland have been holding back. Korg could have put a MOSS expansion slot in its PA-80; Roland and Korg could have put ROM slots in the PA-80 and VA-7, but they did not think they needed to to be competitive. I think they will have to respond with big boards of their own. The PSR9000Pro must have Solton and GEM very nervous. Solton has already responded with the announcement of the SD1. I think the arranger market is heating up, and the next round of introductions will be even more interesting.

I am sure that Roland will respond with a 76key arranger .if you have noticed,they are doing the same thing as Yamaha did with their PSR-9000.I think the 9000PRO was planed to be released with the PSR-9000 but they released the PSR-9000 first because they wanted to learn from their mistakes and then fix it on the 9000PRO.Roland is doing the same thing because Roland corp. is a big copier!.they released the VA-7 so that they would learn from their mistakes on the VA-7 and fix it on the nice VA-x(76key).for Korg ,I am sure that they will not leave Roland ,Yamaha,Solton and GEM run with their 76KEY party;because I know the can do more,more than they did on the PA-80

I think and hope you are right about Roland. They have the XV-88 to base a 76-key arranger on. Just give us the XV soundset, JV and SRX slots, and hopefully a vocalizer, in a G-1000 package. Roland has the best expansion library available. I would lean toward Roland for this reason.

Korg, after all, has a 76-key Triton. Just add arranger functions. The Triton has both ROM slots and a MOSS expansion slot.

Yamaha has the expansion slots, mostly for other forms of synthesis. But how do you control the virtual acoustic synthesis on a PSR-9000Pro? I think Yamaha has some more thinking to do. However, Yamaha's emphasis on quality vocal harmony is well placed.

Technics apparently has one or more expansion slots. Not much of a library. The next model should be the KN-7000, maybe there will be a KN-7600 as well.

Solton is introducing a new 76-key model. As the company with the best styles, it remains a contender. But Solton must be nervous with the heavyweights moving into its pro-arranger niche.

GEM has great products, but needs something new, like an arranger version of the Equinox, or a version of the SK-760, 880, with lots of ROM, and plenty of solid-state memory for styles.

Casio has already joined the 76-key party at the low end. I think the 61-key MZ-2000 is an exciting entry into the high-middle range. How interested Casio is in the high end, I do not know.

It seems like there should be more news from Music Meese this year. What happened?

What everybody is forgetting:
You are herel all comparing keyboards, just because it has a name called KEYBOARD.
Does some of you ever use reasonable thinking, stating that you MAY NEVER compare a PA-80 and PSR9000-PRO because the latter is litteraly TWICE as expensive???????????
I am really sorry, but if a 9000PRO is even compared to a PA-80, this is the best compliment for Korg ever.

The Yamaha PSR9000-PRO is top of the range.
No comparison yet. But that will change in a few months.

Technics is still selling too much of the KN-6000.

Your point about price is well-taken. On the other hand, every manufacturer's high-end arranger keyboard is going to be compared to the PSR-9000Pro for awhile. I do not doubt that many people will prefer the Korg PA-80 to the PSR-9000Pro regardless of price. In fact, I think there are people who prefer the DJX regardless of price.

Did I start all this? All I was trying to do was to steer the one's that were interested to some new pages about the 9000p! I still don't believe they've ever found it! Oh well.

I agree with you,ever year it will be the same thing. One company trying to out do the
other. You have a Solton right? I've never heard the X1, but I heard a man play a
MS-100 . I don't know what he was using for an amp. But it sounded great! I'm new on this forum wanted get to know you Guys & Gals

I am new to the forum and have read you many replies! How would you compare the sounds of ths VA7 with the G1000. Piano,Drums Etc. Also, do any of the VA7 sounds come from the XV3080?
