Yes, in fact that's probably the best way. It holds more and you don't need a special card reader for the computer.
Only downside is that it sticks out a little from the back of the keyboard.

I have a Kingston Pen drive with 128 megas for storage of styles, multi pads, registrations, Music finder banks and Mids.
Very fast and easy to load and store.
It's fantastic.

My flash card came with an wire extension that eliminate the "sticking out" problem.

As a matter of fact I have a 4 port extension with 2 flash drives and a smart media card reader right up front.

So does that means the USB would take an external HardDrive then ????

The other question...does the 3K have only one USB because normally this would be connected in my case to the supplied Floppy Drive.

Graham,

Yes, the 3K has a single USB port, however, you can purchase splitter devices for unbieveably low prices at www.cyberguys.com

Yes, you can use an external hard drive as well as a Smart Media Card, and both can be operational at the same time. It's an amazing machine and I sincerely believe that most folks that have purchased the 3000 will be happy with the keyboard.

The PSR3000 has only one port, however you can connect up to 4 devices with a 4 port hub that plugs into the one port. This is the setup I use.

The larger the drive the slower the access time. I am not sure how large you can go in size of drive.
