Jimmy is such a straight ahead songwriter ... it's easy to get a good feel with most 4/4/ rock beats. Add a little latin percussion and steel drums to a basic 8 beat and you can use it for a bunch of tunes. The PA80 allows me to assign a button to turn parts on/off. I use this for the percussion parts in a rhtyhm .... that way, I can have the straight 4/4 style, and with the touch of a button - add the conga's etc.... I like it. Yamaha and Technics let you add those parts as phrases with multipads. That's even better, but not available on the Korg yet.

Strong latin/rock with a guitar stum will sell most of his songs !

Hey Cass,

If you're using the 2000, here's the styles I use for these songs:

Boat Drinks: Rhumba Island-D Tempo=125
Changes in Lattitude: Rhumba Island-B Tempo=120
Cheeseburger In Paradise: Rhumba Island Tempo= 130
Come Monday: 8Beat Adria Tempo 110
Fins: Rhumba Island-C Tempo=132
Grapefruit-Juicyfruit: Swing1-B tempo=140
He Went To Paris: Rumba-A Tempo=120
Margarettaville: Rhumba Island-D Tempo=125
Volcano: Rhumba Island-D Tempo=100
Why Don't We Get Drunk & Screw: Country Shuffle-C Tempo 115
Pencil Thin Mustache: Swing1-A Tempo=120
Honey Do: Swing1-B Tempo=125

As you can see, most of his songs are pretty much along the same lines and styles, but the 2000s variations and ability to mute certain sections of the styles make them sound different. Of course, you also have to be able to sing these songs, because IMHO Buffets lyrics make his songs a hit.

Cheers,

Gary

Thanks Dave and Gary, I'm away on a short holiday and checking in from a friend's computer. I will definitely check out those 2k styles when I get back into port (STS) on Saturday.
