For all those interested in the saga of ZIGGY and his Genesys instrument. Let me make this clear, I have been in contact with Ziggy on numerous occasions and we are trying to get all of his issues resolved. Unfortunately, there are several issues, first Ziggy did not purchase the instrument from the USA, He already replaced the Hard Drive, and so we could not even do a warranty claim on the instrument to resolve the smaller hard drive (that was installed for some unknown reason). As far as the O.S. this is being resolved (waiting on an email from Ziggy) very shortly. Now please do not think that flaming a Manufacture or myself, saying I should be fired, got any of this to happen, is wrong. Sincerely, ANYONE that has a problem can send me an email, and I will make sure your issues are resolved. Generalmusic has prided itself on customer support and service, and continue to do so. As most of you know, it NAMM time, and I am already here getting ready for another exciting show. Anyone that is coming to the show, please stop by and say hello. Generalmusic strives to keep their customer happy and content with their purchase for years to come.

Thank You,
Paul J. Davis

By coincidence, I just read the whole Ziggy-Saga for the first time; and I saw you posting this new post. I can assure you Paul, the whole thread is not negative to GEM in any way, at least I didn't got that feeling after reading the thread. So, no worries; mistakes and 'acts of God' - as the emails not getting where they should - are part of the way things go sometimes!

Good luck with doing a demo at NAMM. If it wasn't a Atlantic Ocean in between; I would come

BTW, maybee these link could be helpful;
http://www.gem-keyboards.de/genesys/html/operating_sys_.html Here you can get the new OS, November 2003

Apparantly GEM made it difficult to download direct. You can acces the files by opening www.generalmusic.com , go to GEM > English > Products > Genesys > Downloads > Operating Systems.
The same for the Pro; select a different product.

Does anyone know if the Wk8LE OS can be flashed into a GEM WK8?

I went to the site and looked at the Pro. The site is difficult to navigate, but I easily found OS 1.02 and downloaded it just to see if I could.
By the way, the Pro looks very interesting. Wish I could see one in person.
Last spring I tried to arrange to see a GEM but despite several emails, never could work it out.
The nearest dealer they could direct me to was in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, about 200 miles. At the time I phoned them, they didn't have one in stock.
It must be really hard to sell something that is seemingly impossible to demo.

Dear Paul,

I would like to assure you that I am personally very impressed and very thankful for your quality support that you give in these forums. As a GEM keyboard owner, I feel pride that the head sales manager is heavily involved here. I personally made few requests through these forums for the improvements of SK880, and they were implemented in future OS. My satisfaction in the quality of SK880 keyboard and the support that I receive from you and from Chris is excellent. I remember when I first purchased the keyboard, one GEM fan told me something, "the best thing about your keyboard is: GEM SUPPORT." Years passed, and this fact became more apparent.

Time passes by and so many times we take these points for granted. Unfortunately, due to lack of problems with GEM keyboards, the GEM forum is usually silent. But that is good and excellent indication of quality of GEM.

I wrote this post solely to express my own personal experience and view about General Music, Paul and Chris.

Thank you Paul.

Dom most are mixing things a little bit here , let me explain that what you downloaded is what we call OS PATHCH and not the OS I wanted there is 110MB difference from what you downloaded to the OS I needed.

Dom I have the P{ro as well as the Genesys with speakers, let me tell you the Pro is very slimline and very easy to carry I recomand it to those who like me Gig, if you want it for home use I would go for the Genesys with speakers. There is still a Difference in HARD DISK size betweeen the 2 the Pro got a 4GB and the Genesys has 2GB so there is a gap and even the price the Pro is much cheaper I go a very good price on my PRO.

SK you are right Paul is very helpful and from the start I never said he wasn't my problem was and still is with the mother firm where up to this moment I didn't get one single Email, and that worries you because you expect better treatment from the PERSON who is suppose to set an example for others.

Well I got the OS upgrades now THROUGH PAUL USA and not through ITALY and to this I am very thankful toward Paul Personal Initiative.

Tony.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I must apologize that I have not been able to track the forums in the last couple of weeks. I was glad to help Ziggy out. To answer Ziggy's question about the different size hard drive that he had in his genesys, and talking directly to the President of the company himself, told me that this must have been an error in manufacturing and that Generalmusic never built a Genesys for any market using a smaller hard drive. It is unclear ATM how we can make this right with Ziggy, as he has already installed a new hard drive, which unfortunately was something that he should have gotten authorization from Generalmusic to do. I am sure; I will make things right with Ziggy, to put him back with all our other Generalmusic customers as a happy and satisfied customers.

Best Regards,
