I've mostly played non dancing gigs. Cocktail parties, retirement homes, corporate events, coffee houses. I'm about to be hired for a singles type social ages 40 to 60s, maybe some late 30s. They are looking for a combination of background early evening then dance music. Early evening no problem. Need some input for dance for that age group. What are you guys playing for dance music in that age group?

I'm thinking some 50s and 60s music some line dances some country tunes. Donny, Gary and anyone else what do you suggest?

Thanks

Age between 40-60! You better get some seventies rock and seventies soul. We play a lot for these ages, good starters to get them on the dance floor quick are CCR, ZZtop,Stones, etc...

Now it might be different in USA though as in Europe..

60s, 70s and early 80s stuff you can dance to. Keep in mind that most of these folks cannot dance fast, therefore keep the upbeat tempos at a modest level. Don't forget some of the old favorites such as Old Time Rock & Roll, Proud Mary, Under The Boardwalk, and similar numbers that will set the upbeat mood for the drunks. For those that wish to get up close and personal on the dancefloor, Unchained Melody fills the floor every time. Lots of similar Doo-Wap songs will keep it packed.

Good Luck,

Gary
