Own a Kurzweil K2000, PC88MX and just purchased M1R to expand sounds. Using Cakewalk 9.03. I have to regress in my thinking to record multiple tracks to Cake from the M1R since these newer synths sort of do it automatically. Have read alot of back posts about the only way to do multitimbral recording is thru the multimode in Combi. I am having a hard time grasping this concept?? Note also that his newsgroup activity is minimal lately...guess everyone has moved on and here I go backwards !!

If there are any M1 experts out there that have done it all and could lend me a hand, I would appreciate it. You can contact me directly if you prefer.....

You can use sequencer mode, assigning each track to the sound you want and then each track to respond to a certain midi channel.
I have never used the combi mode before like I have seen mentioned here...
