I may actually try my hand at doing a country piano album - one that focuses on the music of great country pianists like Floyd Cramer, Ronnie Milsap, Charlie Rich, etc. I think piano is sorely missing in today's popular country music and the country pianist genre slipped away without anyone noticing. I may try my hand at revitalizing it.
Esh,
Just trivia:
Ronnie is appearing in Shreveport tonight at a casino. I'm not working tonight, so probably won't run into him. I met him back in Arkansas years ago. Super guy. I would go see him, but my youngest son is playing basketball at the same time, and that's WAY more important.
Floyd was raised in the little town of Huttig, AR, about 100 miles from here.
His stuff is easy to play once you learn that distictive technique where you hit a quick grace note a full step down from the note you finish on. It will make you play on the white keys though!
Can't wait to hear you apply your own touch to some country stuff.
