I've owned one for over a year now, and have had some problems, but Korg or the dealer fixed all of them cheerfully. I still think it is the best overall synth for acoustic piano and a wide range of other mostly good and useful sounds. Good touch for piano and fast enough response for other techniques - organ, etc. Big screen makes it easy to program, though the complexity of the device and implementation of effects takes some getting used to, and the manual is less than clear - a bit of a learning curve. You will need a computer, of course, for MIDI sequencing. I haven't tried the new Alesis QS8.1 - but didn't like the clunky keyboard on the old one. But you should probably look at it to compare features with the N1 before buying.
