There has been plenty of talk regarding harmonizers of late. So I thought that I would start a thread dedicated to the SZ members posting their own recordings of harmonizer work. I have purposely selected an acapella song for this sample to showcase just the harmonizer. Be forewarned it is a Christian song written by Michael Card titled "The Gentle Healer". I wanted to show the introduction of harmony 1 voice at a time.
So here it is:

I feel like I should include a EULA. (end user license agreement)

Beautiful song
Beautiful execution
Beautiful expression
So-So harmonizer. It breaks up when the three voices get strong. It sounds metalic in tone, but follows dynamics pretty well.
I'd love to hear you on my kb !

Ya know, I was thinking the same thing. In defense of the T2 however, I did have some clipping when I finally added the third harmony. That may have been part of the problem...maybe, maybe not. I sure would like to try some of the other harmonizers available. It has been years since I have tried anything other than the Yamaha harmonizer. My first was an early model DigiTech rack mount. Thats been near 20 years ago I think. Hard to remember. Anyway thanks for the kind words.
I wouldn't mind hearing you guys use your harmonizer to give me a sample of what they sound like.

Dave,

I must have been absent that day. Is there any chance I could get you to post that song, so that I might hear your harmonizer in action. I am really looking for some real world examples of the different models of harmonizers as members actually use them.

Here you go Dennis

A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square , performed by Uncle Dave

I agree with Mikey, that this is some impressive performance. Uncle Dave, beautifully presented and performed; yet even on this song, I can still hear the harmonizer breaking up in spots similar to what's I heard on Tyros2's VH. I'd give the Korg vocal harmonizer sound quality a slight edge over the Tyros2, but not by much. Just my opinion. - Scott

Oops, I almost forgot to mention . . .

Dennis: awesome TOTALLY EXPOSED solo harmony performance by you of Michael Card's "The Gentle Healer", to showcase just how impressive the Tyros2 vocal harmonizer can sound if you simply take time to learn how to adjust & call up your own personally customized Yamaha keyboard vocalizer settings. Dennis, thanks for taking the time to record & share your work. - Scott

WOW ! This is the best vocal demo I ever heard.

You know how to use the harmonizer and the voices do not sound 'mechanical' but natural.

Nicely done Dennis. Sitting at the computer in a quiet room I can hear the artifacts in the vocal track. I don't think it would be as apparent in a live situation.
Of course that still doesn't make it a top performing unit and if you are buying an arranger keyboard just for the harmony, and not for any other features,I guess you could do better. But I think as a total package they all have their strengths and weaknesses.

Thats why they make vanilla and chocolate and 52 different flavors, or whatever it was.

If I remember correctly I think UD said his was done not on a keyboard harmonizer but on a standalone unit.
