I'm currently contemplating the purchase of a used KORG M1 for $450 from a music store. However, there are no manuals available with the purchase. Does anyone have one that is available for purchase? Or, can anyone tell me where to find one/purchase one? Are there any on-line manuals available for download or for on-line viewing? Let me know... and what are your opinions about the M1 and its multi-tracking abilities?! --Shadowman

Way to go, I think that is a good price for the M-1 if its in decent condition. I have another keyboard thats 10 years newer, but overall if I had to I would probably give it up before the M-1.
The M-1 got a bad rap early on because the origional sounds could have been programmed better( there are still very good sounds in the origional banks though)- Mainly people use words like "dated" for the sounds,I'd still like to know who started that little phrase and what they mean by it, I mean, trumpets and basic pianos and strings and even synth sounds are always current sounds. What is their idea of a non-dated sound and who are "they" anyhow? Maybe "they" whoever they are could tell me how "they" know whats in and cool, especially when "they" are remixing all the old stuff because"they" cant conjure any of their own stuff and have to lean on computers to make music.
A few years after the M-1 came out many sound designers made drastic improvements to the M-1s origional sounds, and there are still many good sounds out there to download for M-1. M-1 + new sounds= Mouth watering,eye popping,lap slapping sounds- in fact, the Ai synthesis technology really hasnt changed much and buying many newer korgs will get you the same technology only with a cheaper built board(albeit more polyphony and other capabilities. You ask about tracking, I wouldnt hesitate to track the M-1, many million sellers have it on their mix. You asked about manuals, there are sites that have manuals for download if you go to search engine.If you cant find a manual, I'll get you one , I'll copy you mine for a small fee. Let me know, Tim

From this guitarist point of view, the M1 is still a great synth. I bought one some years go and I don't regret. Very easy programming, some great sounds and very well built. My band mate owns a O1W/FD, which has better guts, but the M1 has its charms. Only 16 voices polyphony, 8 midi channels (half of the 01W). The internal sequencer is but a toy.
