I was at GC this weekend asking the rep about this Alesis Mixer with USB. He said it could function as a sound card. When he looked at the specs, he said it would not really be suitable for high quality recording because the sampling rate was low. He also said that the Yamaha Mixers were much quieter than the Alesis and Beringer mixers. So I ended out getting a Yamaha 8 channel without the USB for $169. I think the Alesis with USB was $299.

thanks for the reply on the usb mixer, talked me out of it. The usb feature intriqued me, but the old sayin " if it sounds too good to be true ......"
