I just want to start a bug list for the new Roland G-70, since I got mine today - unfortunately defective, so I had to return it to my dealer. I will sell my "old" VA 76 on Friday; first gig with G-70 is on 5th January 2005. I'm sure Roland will manage it to make a bug free keyboard, it's only a matter of time for me, so - what's your experience so far!? By the way - the things i heard till now, where very fine...

Hi Poldidenk,
sorry, I didn't get my G-70 because Roland Germany verify some bugs, -so my dealer-. Perhaps you get the list from Rellingen, Germany.
But it seems to me, Roland people are absent in this forum.

Probably absent because Roland hasn't made anything decent in years.

Hi,
As you probably know I had the G70 for only one day (about a week ago) and returned it to the dealer.
In the few hours I tried to play it it twice locked up : Chord recognition stopped working and he kept playing the same chord all the time.... Even stopping the style did not work !

Today I found the manual on the web and it's obvious the one I got did not match with the G70 described in the manual.
So it must be still 'in development'.

Are you sure you sell your VA?
I guess you'd better wait a couple of months before doing that

I am a very happy Roland owner. I have a VR-760 that is bug free and very good quality and workmanship. I have it matched to a KC550. I know several guys that gig with them on a regular basis, and those that spend the time to get to know the insturment swear by it.

I just phoned my service station - my G-70 didn't have a software bug, but some hardware defect (cpu board was "dirty") - i will get it back on monday - hoping that everything will work. I will keep you up to date.
So far...

Dirty CPU? Wow for a board that was just released why is the CPU already dirty?

Hi,
very, very seldom, but possible. The CPU didn't understand Programmers coding. That's it.

I have to say that the term "dirty" is not the best one - I'm not a native speaker, my English is not the best...
A small part (less than 1mm) of an electronic component was between the board and the cpu - very, very seldom - i guess that's why all people in computer manufacturing factories wear strange caps.... Finally I have to repeat, that the G-70 is a real good keyboard and I'm a Roland Fan since 1987. The VA-76 was the first Top Keyboard from Roland, which didn't satisfy me - but with the new G-70 they are on the right path again.
