The tune is OK but the recording is'nt..... I'm sorry.

Vocals are way to loud (distortion all the time).
It looks like you forgot to add 'direct' into the mike-mix. No crisp and clear sound.

You 'd better give it another try.... first take a listen to Terry's songs, they are perfect !

I downloaded my upload to Yousendit..I do not hear the problems you mentioned...Could it be your system?

Anyone else have distortion all thru the tune or too loud vocals?

Hi Fran,

I listened to it and found the levels on vocal to be just slightly high enough on my system to indcate that the vocal track may have been a little hot. Still, I was able to listen to it and understand what was being sung without any trouble.

Regards,

Dennis

Fran, because I assume you're singing along (karaoke style) to a commerically produced SMF (Tune-1000?) backing track , am I right in assuming your goal to replicate Elvis' vocals rendition of this song as well? First of all, I appreciate with the improvements (reduced reverb) you've made from your previous vocal rendition of this same song. Though I acknowledge the vocal distortion & glitches pointed out by Kla4, here are things that concern me more (from a musical standpoint):

What instrument patch (incorportating pitch bend) was used for the instrument fills beginning at the bridge? It sounded (at least to me) more like a piano instead of an expected guitar patch. Odd to heard pitch bend notes on a piano.

Fran, though your vocal style sounds remiscent of Elvis' , I also notice that a number of words sound muffled (unclear). This is usually the result of insufficient vocal (diaphramatic) support, vocal placement (in the mask), and not singing clearly on the vowel. I believe working to condition your voice with some simple vocal exercises can improve your sound (pitch) and make your lyrics far easier heard & understood, as Elvis' lyrics were.

On another note. When I play your song in my Windows Media Player version 10, the artist name & song title appear as:

Artist: Mark Siegenthaler
Song Title: Hybrid

Ok. I hope my above comments are taken as helpfully constructive. - Scott

Hi Fran

I liked the general effect that it produced. It sounded like it would sound lve in a gym where sounds sometimes bleed together to get a muffled sound. But kind of a surprizing mix for what I presume is a direct recording.

I can see this going over well on the dance floor.

I thought that was great. Did you use an audio backing with the sole voice erased ?
