Check out the Yamaha D-deck on that link. Now wouldn't that be a cool arranger? The arranger keypad on the bottom and the top a bondafide syth system of sort.

Bill,
thank you for linking us to this independent review. This review and the one I posted here a few days ago are very similar in our evaluation. I haven't put on a set of headphones and compared the sound quality of listening through the internal speakers and the headphones. I do however plug it into a stagepas300 and the keyboard sounds great this way.

Nice review, and I LOVE how they quickly recorded their first few tries on it, and gave us a superb look at how most of us would sound if we had just sat down at it and tried to figure it out, quickly.

All kinds of shortcomings can be covered up with enough time to tweak, but here is an excellent example of what can be done OOTB, so to speak. Kudos to the reviewers.....

I am the webmaster of Jazzhooves.com. Thanks for your kind comments about the Ketron review. It was fun to do, and so far the most enjoyable. The keyboard is amazing and deserves a place amongst the big arranger keyboards. Shame more people do not look at the ketron as a viable option.
We have more tracks from the ketron in our January podcast. The gospel track "I will follow him" will be included and sounds stunning performed on the SD5.
Please feel free to tune in - first week of January 2007.

Merry Christmas to you all.

Leigh,
congratulations for your review and -above all- your demo's: really impressive!
Did you tweak somehow the SD5 internal equalizer or add a bit of external equalization before recording? I am asking because I have a feeling that the sound has a little more bass and a little less mid-frequencies compared with the traditional Ketron sound (I had an SD1 in the past and right now own a Midjay).
Thanks!
Andrea

yamahaladstoke,

Good job on your Ketron SD5 review ... I just wanted to mention that the speakers were initially set at 'flat' from the company; however, there is an internal Bass Boost circuit (function can be accessed from RIGHT MENU - BASS BOOST (F9) and FREQUENCY (F10). These can enhance the bass out of the internal speakers and the frequency to enhance can be set. These settings can be saved under POWER ON SETUP so when next you turn on the keyboard, this process need not be repeated!

Thanks,

AJ
