I am looking to buy an arranger keyboard to use as a backing for my one man show. I can play piano but i intend to control the keyboard with my guitar via roland GI-10 midi controler and midi pickup. My hope is that i can trigger cord changes and have the styles follow me on the guitar. I was looking at the yamaha psr 3000 but it seems i can only have 2 foot switches attached to it. I need to trigger Start/stop, Fills 1, 2 and 3, and harmony on/off. Is this possible on this keyboard or any other. I think Ketron have this facility but i am not sure.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi there. The type of foot controller you want to use is shown on the link below http://www.piedog.com/musical_instruments/pro_music_live/midi_floor_controllers/yamaha-mfc10.htm

Not sure if these works with PSR3000 but I'd imagine they do as it works great with a Tyros 2. You just go into a menu on the keyboard and it's easy to set it up for alsorts of functions including the ones you need.

Or you might want to consider this;

Which plugs into this;

Hi:

Ketron is probably the most use module and keyboard used THAT way at least in the Arizona state area, I know more than a dozen+ of profesional midi guitarist that use is like that.
In fact, there are 2 trends, one is like trigering chord changes from the guitar and with footswitches change the variations, fill ins, endings, etc....( the most popular use).
The other is to play the lead, there is this duet "Me and my Gal", my friends Phillis and Roy, she plays the chords in their SD1+ and he plays lead besides singing.
The models used to achieve this are:
Ketron XD3-XD9, X1-X4- SD1-SD1+ and the previous models like the MS 50-60 40 AND 100.
Hope it helps.

Been using Ketron (formerly,Solton) for years. Now, i use a keyboard, but the 13 note pedalboard allows you to access starts, stops, fills, breaks...any 13 functions you choose while using your midi guitar or a unique set of conventional looking bass pedals that allow you to use your right toes and heels for minors, 7th's, etc.. It's a proprietary board for use with either Ketron keyboards or modules (X-1, Midjay, etc.)

They've been in the business a long time. The first unit I was aware of was the Auto Orchestra.

The beast thing to do is contact AJ via the Ketron forum. He's the expert and will be glad to take the time to explain functions, etc.

For what you want to do, I believe this is the best available solution. It's the choice of pro's around the world.

Roland arranger modules and keyboards have a foot switch feature to turn on chord recognition as you depress a DP2 pedal..when you release the pedal the recognition is off..It works like a charm..I have guitar playing friends that used them for years..

I have alot of customers that use the Roland GK10 (or newer GK20) guitar to midi converter with a GK1 or GK2 pickup and arranger modules.
The Ketron XD3 is one of the best and a lot less expensive than the Generalmusic Genesis XP. You can configure it to work so that when you play a chord on your guitar and play at least 3 strings, the chords will change just like using an arranger keyboard. You can also solo on the guitar or use a synth sound from the module and the chords will hold until you play at least 3 note chords again. This probably will suit your setup the best. Most of my guitar playing customers would much rather do it this way than have to have your two feet being used to change chords and types of chords.

I wonder if those GK pickups would work on a 12 string acoustic? This type of situation would suit my dad perfectly, because he wouldn't have to learn his way around a pedal board. Only problem, I'm not sure he would give up his beloved 12 string.
