Requesting help for the 9K Yamaha.
I now have some styles with ots sent to me on floppy disc. I am unable to load them into the 512 registration slots. The manual is vague (what's new), and nothing I try seems to work.
I can load in styles with the ots from the flash styles but not from the floppy disc that has both the style and the ots files.
I can load the styles with the ots into the flash styles. Do I have to load them first into the flash style slots and then load from there into the registration slots?
Any help appreciated, especially step by step help as I have just moved over to Yamaha PSR9000 from the Technics KN6000.
Thanks in advance for your advice and help.
Please E-mail me if your advice is too long and involved for a post, although several other people that have kn6/6500 have bought PSR9000 and they probably need help too and they are now reading these forum posts
Best to all from,
Bebop

Hi Bebop,
Styles with their 4 OTS can only be read from flash ram. If you wish to read them via the "disk direct" function, you will only get the style and not the OTS. As for loading them into your registrations, only the style and one of its OTS settings can beloaded per registration. This means that for each style plus its 4 OTS settings, you will need to use 4 registrations. And don't forget that these (the registrations) can only be saved (loaded) via the style and its OTS being first loaded into flash ram. I hope that this helps you.
Jon.

Bebop. JohPro has already answered your question. But you can in fact save any right hand voice combination into the registrations plus in addition you still have the additional 4 OTS available for that style from Flash Rom. 3X4 =12 OTS voices settings, plus the setting you have saved with the registration. This gives you a lot of available voice options whilst playing just that one selected style.

Bebop. The following link is an excellent site which although its related to the PSR2000 gives a lot of advice about OTS & Registrations that can be adapted to the 9000. Don't dowload the Reg files though because they will not load into the 9000.

The posts above seem to beg one more question that I seek an answer to.
I have to load the the registration and ots file into the flash rom first before transferring it to 4 slots in a panel memory. I thought that was ok so I did that and then I removed the registration and ots file from the flash rom to re-intall the style that was there before and I had deleted. Guess what?
Yup, I no longer have the style in the 4 panel slots, only the OTS configuration which wont play by itself.
WHAT AM I MISSING HERE?
Why would I want to have the same style and ots in two different places. I have though about it since yesterday but no logical answer comes to mind. What is your take on this?
Thanks,
Bebop

on the 9000 and 9000pro the ots will only work from the flash area, it will not work from floppy or from hard disk.
