Hey I was wonderin if all u kind peepz could provide me wiv as much info on the Triton as possible cuz I'm gonna buy one in like 4 months & I would like to know if its definitely worth selling my Technics KN5000 to get one..
Can all styles of music be composed on Triton? I write trance music and film music etc so I need orchestral sounds plus kool drum sounds and nice piano and decent synth sounds & FX. Thanx in advance 4 ne help u can give, JC

make sure u know a little bit about MIDI and all that type stuff,my freind has had one for about 8 months and he's making some serious tracks,but also he had a Korg V3 Trinity before he bought the Triton so he knew a little bit about that type of machine before he bought it. Ask the guys at the Music store your going to buy the Triton and ask them for a breif demonstration before u buy. peace Good Luck!!!!!!!

Well, forget about nice piano. You'll have to look elsewhere. I have not heard the piano expansion so that might be an alternative, but the stock piano isn't worthwhile. You could load some piano samples into it though.

The Triton has some great drum sounds as well as synth sounds. For orchestral stuff (that's convincing at least), you may have to look at samples too.

Take my suggestion with a grain of salt though. I don't like the piano or orchestral sounds on most synths anyway.

To fix the piano and orchestral sounds problem, simply add the PCM01 and 02 expansion boards. These to me seem to nicely fill out what didn't fit on the factory ROM in the 1st place!!!!

For more dancy stuff, instead of the above 2 boards, add the PCM04 and PCM05 boards which specialise in dance and vintage synthe sounds respectively.

Oh and I would definetly save the extra and get the awesome MOSS boards- really turns the Triton into something special IMHO!

In my opinion, the Triton has the best stock string and orchestra sounds of any synth. The piano's are decent. My fave is the wide l/r piano.
The synth sounds are great, as are the bells, guitars, and rock organs.

This is the perfect synth for what you are talking about. It can do very moody, melodic film music VERY well, along with steppy, trance type stuff. It has a built in vocoder, plus dual programmable apregiators.
