Of course we do, or at least we should... but how much? I've been charging time and a half, but thinking that I should change it to 2X and some kind of minimum.

For restaurants, my rate goes from $150 to $500 for New Year's Eve, except when It's at the place I play frequently. It's probably just the custom around here, but if you're a "house" musician, it's considered bad taste to ask for more money from your "home" club. My main place prepares the same $150.00 check I always get, but the owner slips me an extra couple of hundred. I'm always appreciative, and would never take a higher paying job and leave the place stranded. After all, they're good for over $30,000 in income per year, and this is the place where I get referrals and business from the patrons.

It's just part of the business around here.
