Yea, Tony, I've been seeing distressed and ""designer distressed" instruments for years.

Don't really get it, but, "whatever floats your boat". Funny thing is, I get asked about where I het antique instrument a lot. I have to say, "you little jerk, I bought it new"!

Last year, i was playing a Jazzmaster on my patio job that was older than all the wait staff!

I have a 1964 Gibson ES335. The thing was it wasn't considered at all vintage when I bought it in the mid 70s. It grew vintage along with me over the years. And if anything it has grown old much more gracefully than I have myself. It hasn't developed all the wrinkles that I have lol. It is worth much more now but I doubt I am. Such is life.

I've been a serious guitar collector since I was 11; about 50 years. When I check the value of some of the pieces, I'm amaised. Problem is, I can't bring myself to sell even one piece. I've given some to promising youngsters who really needed a fine jazz guitar.

Best deal I was ever offered on a guitar was a Gibson Les Paul for $38 (that's no typo and, yes, it was genuine). Back in 1969 we were touring Turkey and lots of stuff used to surface. Serial numbers? What serial numbers? I even had one guy offer me $1,500 for my old beat up Hammond L102 - I still have the old serial number plate. Hey, those were the days!

Renig...just bought an L100 from an old customer that needed the money for $200.00. Realy don't know what I'm going to do with it, or how I'm going to move it...bought by her dad in the early 50's. Not working.
