Something else I never gave much thought to.

I imagine 20 foot cables from PA head to speakers should do it?

What do you recommend.

Thanx

Scott,

Though you can purchase longer cables, keep in mind that as that length increases, so does the impedience. Therefore, if you choose to use long cables, use the heaviest guage wire available, which lowers the internal resistance. With larger systems, heavier guage, shielded wires are a must to eliminate the possibility of spurious radiation from other sources. I played a job yesterday where they had a PA system the said had an intermittent noise problem.

After finishing my performance, I offered to check out the PA and found the cables from the PA head to the speakers, which were about 40 feet long, were nothing more than Radio Shack speaker wires. Every time someone fired up the microwave in the kitchen, which was about 20 feet from one of the wires, the static coming over the speakers was unbelievably loud. In this instance, shielded wires would have solved the problem. Shielding and grounding are the two most important connections with any sound system when it comes to achieving noise free operation.

Cheers,

Gary

Reminds me of a gag I pulled at an electronics outlet the other day.
I needed a new mic cable, so I asked Jordan (salesman) for a good quality mic cable.
He asked "How long do you want it?"
...I said "Well quite a while, I've got 6 gigs over the next three weeks..."
He didn't know what to say....
