Can anyone tell me if this board is a problem to install and how well it works? Any problems with the board? Is it easy to damage any other systems during this installation and is the VHG1 complete? Often additional things are needed like screws or rails etc.

The board should come with the support rails in the bax. If you have a hard drive installed ... you use only ONE set of rail for both. It isn't hard, but it's a tight fit ... be careful and take your time. It's almost impossible to connect it wrong .... just clumsy if you have chubby fingers !

It was a breeze for me to install. The hardest part as Uncle Dave said, was fitting into the board itself.


The VHG1 works well for me. It can be a bit confusing at first, but the manual does give detailed ( if not totally clear ) instructions on how to work with it.

So, I'm curious, does it do more than just 4-part harmony? Are there other harmony & vocoder types available like the Yamaha vocal harmony board has?

The quality of the voices and effects are wonderful, but the archetechture is archaic. It ONLY responds to actual notes played, like a vocoder, and there are NO cool presets like bass voice or high voice .... just the notes you play. It's a terrible system compared to today's state of the art. That's why I carry an outboard unit.
I suppose if all you do is hold three note triads in root position with the left hand ... it MAY sound ok, but it will never compete with the way the Digitech and TC units allow you to really get creative with vocals.It's a dinosaur in the word of harmonizers, but the mic preamp sounds good.
