Just got off Harmony Central's Summer NAMM coverage.
The Triton Rack looks interesting. For US$2,500.00 here is what you get.
All the features of the Keyboard version minus the sequencer. This has been replaced by a simpler 'song play' mode which accepts standard midi files plus songs created directly in the Triton keyboard sequencer.
Additional features not found in the keyboard-
a). Up to 96MB sampling RAM (the keyboard accepts up to 64MB)>
b). SP/DIF as standard (optional 6 channel ADAT connection). Finally, a Triton with digital connectivity- THANKYOU KORG!!
c). Able to accept up to 8 PCM boards (why didn't they do this with the keyboard version in the 1st place????). Plus each PCM board now has it's own dedicated bank rather than scrubbing over banks C or D as in the keyboard.
d). It's a 2 rack space unit so the 'touchscreen' has been replaced by a 80x240 (I think) LCD which is still good- the same size as that of the T3, O1W, Wavestation, JV2080, XV5080 variety).
I wonder when they'll release the keyboard equivalent with 128 notes of polyphony, internal resampling and extra sequencer functions like swing and groove quantizing??????? HINT HINT KORG!
