This was actually mentioned on another thread, but I thought it would be better to separate it rather then hijack the thread.
The questions are;
1. What boards have Factory protected styles etc
2. Do you think manufactures should allow them to be changed by the user?
3. The reasons (If the answer to 2 is yes) why you would like them changeable (Not enough user slots etc)
4. Should manufactures provide more user slots, (How many do you think is realistically appropriate) and if so would this negate the need for the factory user slots to be made alterable by the user.

As far as Wersi OAS instruments go, since OAS5 (2003) they all now have factory protected slots, (A request made by a lot of Wersi owners) and since OAS7 (2005) the factory and user sections are now separate, (Although they can of course be mixed with each other) and consequently no user slots are lost.
Should be interesting to see the replies

Bill

Hi Bill,
My PSR1500 , the factory styles are protected, but they can be copied, altered & saved to memory ( not very large onboard memory) or to a USB device.
The Ketron sd1+ the Flash styles can be over written, (if protection is removed.)
Edited styles can also be saved to the hard drive.

From what I gather to date ( I only had it for just over a week before we went on vacation , so), the factory styles on my PA800 can also be overwritten. There appear to be a number of slots to save user styles as well.

Personally I like the idea of being able to overwrite the existing styles, provided it can't be done accidently & then having no way of getting them back.
The reason I prefer it is, why have a heap of styles I'm never likely to use, taking up flash memory.

best wishes

Wouldn't a factory reset restore the original styles? If so, you never really lose them and that would be a form conserving memory space to make room for edits. Just thinking (boy, is that dangerous, or what )

Hi Cassp,
I don't think the sd1 & Pa800 have a factory restore as such. They work differently to the PSR1500.

I don't understand the operating system well enough to explain how it works.
All I know is on the sd1 I have everything backed up on it's hard drive & on PC.
The PA 800 I have the operating system & resources file( whatever that means) backed up on thumb drive & pc. If something does go wrong, I gather I just have to load the backups, back in to restore it to original.

best wishes
