I have finally got an MP3 to upload to my webpage. But it seems there is quite a lot of high-end distortion. It is not there on the MP3 before I upload it. Also, the song cuts off before the end, but this may be because it didn't upload completely.
I'm a novice in this area. Any suggestions, comments etc. will be appreciated. Here's the address: www.donmasonmusic.com
Thanks,
DonM

Don,

How long is your MP3 in minutes? Do you know the file size? The one that I downloaded was a little bit more than 1 MB in size, which seemed too short for an average MP3 file for full length song. Your upload might have been truncated.

Check your bit rate of the mp3. I bet it was set too low. I am new to the mp3 arena but I found the higher the bit rate-the higher the quality mp3, and unfortunately the larger the file. I usually record to a wave file, and convert to mp3. I know for a fact that any bit rate lower than 96 is going to produce distortion, and lower than 56 will speed up the playback rate.

Aha! I encoded the song at 48 bps. That was the default. I have now re-done it at 96 bps and it seems to sound o.k. now. It still cuts off before the end, so I have more work to do, but at least what's there sounds a lot better.
The original size was 1.17 M and now it' 2.35.
I'm an old dog trying to learn new tricks. Thanks for the help.
