Hey guys and gals,
I'm finalizing the setup of my new OMB rig. I have a Shure Mic, Roland EXR-3, and guitar to connect through my Logitech Z-5500 speaker system. Many of you have suggested that I need "reverb" for my audio so Don Mason suggested the Behringer UB1204FX mixer. Okay, it is being delivered next week, and I'm going to admit that I know NOTHING about mixing sounds, so I looked at the manual and see that the "reverb" effects are on one set of controls so my question is this:
How can I add the "reverb" to just my vocal part and not have it affecting my keyboard or guitar sounds?
Thanks,
Charlie

Charlie, I am not familair with your mixer but most mixers have a effects control on each chanel. in your ase that would be reverb, add as you wish.

Once you get use to using a mixer, it's hard to do without one.

PS, A guitar going through a PA system normally leaves a lot to be desired, they never sound like a guitar amp. Let us know how the guitar sound going through your X5500.

Thanks, John,
Believe it or not, I got on Behringer's site and they have a section where you can submit an FAQ so I submitted my question. Voila! They responded right back and told me that all I have to do is turn up the FX knob on the mic input and turn it down on all the other inputs! It is that easy! I'm really glad that I bought the Behringer now... they have awesome service after the sale.
Thanks again, John. I'll let you know how the guitar sounds through this system.
Charlie

Charlie,
Do you know that Behringer just came out with 2 new models that are smaller and more compact then the UB1204FX? There is now a $79.00 model called the UB1002FX with 2 mic preamps and 4 more stereo channels and a $99.00 model called the UB1202 with 4 mic preamps and 4 stereo channels. Both units are smaller in size compared to the UB1204FX which sells for $149.00. These two new mixers are amazing at this price point.

John ir right...an electric guitar plugged straight into a mixing board, even one with effects, usually gets disappointing results. An acoustic with a built in pre-amp is often acceptable.

For an electric, either come out of the line out of a small guitar amplifier, or use a device like a guitar Sans Amp. I even use a Sans Amp preamp on jobs, so I can eliminate carrying another piece of equipment. It's not ideal, but when you get old, you make compromises.

For recording, a line out or pre-amp is a must.

Good luck!

Thank you, George and Russ,
George: I found the new mixers and changed my order last week. I am getting the UB1002FX mainly because of the price AND I don't need more than 10 inputs.
Russ: I have a Peavey Guitar amp to run the guitar through and then I plan to capture the line out to the mixer as you suggested. Appreciatively,
Charlie
