I have been waiting for the new Roland Fantom X, but the prices of the Fantom S are really good right now. Is it even worth looking into the S when X is just around the corner??

Fantom S - $1300
Fantom X - $2000

I guess it's an individual matter. One must ask themselves if the feature difference between old and new is worth the money. Personally, I enjoy being one level behind. I'm now very seriously considering an upgrade from my XP-80 to the Fantom 76 because the new Fantom X is going to or should lower the market value on the Fantom 76. I generally can easily live without the latest and greatest. But that's just me.

Peace
Bob

Harosha,
The new X which I am waiting for as well, has 2 new major things, a new sound chip and 128 note polyphony. I had the S, the poly is what sent it back to the store.

Thanks Terry, yes the new sound chip and extra polyphony may be well worth the wait it self.

I am now also thinking that the "S" version may have the same synth engine as the XV-5050 that I currently own so, it might be worth waiting for the "X".
