Hi All!
I have a PSR 740. I wanted to know where I could find some nice techno or Rave styles on the net. Also any site where I can find some good karaokr midi files of new tracks (English).
Thanx

It's funny how easily you can determine the interest for modern dance/techno music among arranger users.

You got no responses at all (0)
But there are 28(!) responses so far re: a finish color for keyboards.

I think this is a main reason on why non-arranger crowd classify arrangers as a tool to create oldies only. And, unfortunately, I agree with them. There is nothing for modern dance lovers out there in the arrangers world.

Maybe you'll find some limited techno styles on the internet, but not much. Good luck!

You're right New Yorker... Arrangers really aren't geared towards dance... However there was one Yamaha and I still think it's way better than the newer model and that' the original DJX... When I bought mine the keyboard was $299, but for that price you got a killer dance keyboard.. It had real time control knobs for res., cuttoff, groove, ect.. Plus that board was designed specifically for dance, techno, hip hop, rave, R&B, and other styles in that area. It even had a sound set that was completely dance orientated. It had a sampler (wasn't the best but you could sample, edit them and then loop them) Had a 6 track sketch pad (I think it held like 10,000 notes).... The newer model the DJX two pales in comparison with the original.. Yammie took a step backwards with that model... I've said this in the past, and that is dance, hip hop, and club music styles on our PSR's are taken from the DJX... Some of the styles on my PSR-550 are dead on with styles from the original DJX (with just a few changes)... If you can get your hands on an original DJX for a good price.., pick it up. If you like this type of music you'll love this keyboard.. Sadly mine died... One of the knobs failed after I must have given it 1,000,000 twists and turns, and the whole board just went down from that.... I did get my fun out of it though...

I know this board very well. The problem is that I need the sounds of DJX and recording/sequencing capability of Genesys or similar.

Couldn't they make a dance arranger called "Dance Genesys" or "Techno Tyros" or whatever? Really I'd never understand why no one does it.

I think arranger is more suited for techno music 'cause there is a lot of repetative stuff in there but yet we have Great arrangers for rock and pop but Triton and such for dance...

I totally agree with you New Yorker.. I actually sent many suggestions to Yamaha about making a DJX-Pro.. Basically have all the features of the original DJX, but just add a floppy disk, 16 track internal recorder, upgrade the sampling capabilities, allow style recording, and a few other features.. Arrangers do and can work quite well with dance and all those other styles.... Hell if the original DJX had an internal 16 track, style recording, and a floppy it would have made a great dance keyboard...
