Many months ago, I cracked the LED display on one of my PSR2000s. Mea culpa. Fortunately, the crack in the display doesn't affect the functioning of the keyboard. But it will affect the resale value, so I have wanted to get it fixed. In the beginning of February I ordered the part. It is the end of April, and there is no estimated time of arrival. Part is on backorder. This is ridiculous. It took almost three months for me to get a replacement speaker for a previous repair - and a month for the internal amplifier. Yamaha, this stinks. If this were a problem that affected the functioning of my keyboard, I would be without a keyboard for three months or more.

That's why professionals all carry spares--even spare keyboards. What would you do in the middle of a large party with 400 to 500 people if your keyboard suddenly crapped out, or your amp head fried? If you don't carry spares, it's like playing Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun. BANG!

Cheers,

Gary

Camn someone tell me why the spares supply organisations cannot use express carriers for small parts? The cost of carriage is small compared to the labour charges usually applied to even the most trivial of fixes!

You think that stinks, check out this! I dropped and broke the glass carosel for my Sharp microwave. They wanted $83.00 PLUS shipping for a replacement! For a piece of glass! I only payed $120 for the whole thing! What a ripoff. I lucked out and found someone disposing of a broken oven with the same glass and got it free, but I will remember to avoid Sharp next time that I purchase an appliance. We live in a disposable society now, but a psr2000 should not be considered "disposable" . Parts and service are not profitable to mfg.s but should be part of their stratagy to retain customers.

Spookily enough I live near a spares outlet here in sunny England who could do you a "Genuine Sharp microwave oven glass turntable" for about 11 pounds (about 17 dollars)!

I have forwarded your thread to the manager in charge of the parts area. Hopefully, that will speed things up.

My Spare is my Laptop. I have done gigs with just the Laptop which has Backing Tracks, Mp3's, and all my SMF songs, Mic and my Barbetta's.

Fran,
I have a friend who said the same thing, and he plays nothing but yamaha's, but that's not the reason to carry spares. Are you trying to tell us that you don't carry a spare anything, spare mic, spare cables, spare speaker? You're saying that all you do is show up in front of a couple hundred people that just put down a large sum of money, rented tuxedos and hope that nothing crashes, and if it does, you just shrug your shoulders and go home. Nah! You're a lot smarter than that.

Cheers,

Gary
