What key is this song in? Curious what the answer is. Yeah, I'm a dummy.

If you have a better arrangement, please post.

THE CHRISTMAS SONG
(as performed by Nat King Cole)

Db6 Ebm7 Fm7 Gbmaj7 (Fm7 Ebm7)
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Db6 Abm7 Db7 Gbmaj7 B9
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Db6 B9 Bbm7 Gm7 Gb7
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
Fmaj7 F#m7 B9 Emaj7 Ebm7 D9
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.......everybody

Db6 Ebm7 Fm7 Gbmaj7 (Fm7 Ebm7)
knows a turkey and some mistletoe
Db6 Abm7 Db7 Gbmaj7 B9
Help to make the season bright
Db6 B9 Bbm7 Gm7 Gb7
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Fm7 E9 Ebm7 D9 Db6
Will find it hard to sleep tonight

Abm7 Db7 Gbmaj7
They know that Santa's on his way
Abm7 Db7 Gbmaj7
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh
F#m7 B7 Emaj7
And every mother's child is gonna spy
Eb7 Ab7
To see if reindeer really know how to fly

Db6 Ebm7 Fm7 Gbmaj7 (Fm7 Ebm7)
And so I'm offering this simple phrase
Db6 Abm7 Db7 Gbmaj7 B9
To kids from one to ninety-two
Db6 B9 Bbm7 Gm7 Gb7
Although it's been said many times, many ways
Fm7 E9 Ebm7 Ab7 Db6
Merry Christmas to you

Well that's what I thought but sometimes I say what's obvious and someone says Nope, it's in (whatever). But it starts in Db and ends in Db, so I figured as such.

If anyone sees any mistakes or knows a better progression, advise, Thanks.

Well, I play it in C. I don't do Db or C# either for that matter! Besides that, Db is about a half-step too high for me to sing comfortably.
If you want the chart, email me.

It's in the key the singer needs it to be in. End of story.....unless of course, it's an instrumental - then it's the best key for the melody instrument.

The key you are playing in is Db, but the original Sheet music is in Eb.

Ditto-

It's written in Eb major, but I pull it down a full step.

We used to refer to keys like Db and F# as 'bastard keys', but songs played in these keys seem to have an extra 'edge', or crispness. Check it out sometime. Stevie Wonder likes to do songs in these keys.

My two favorite keys are F# and Gb. My favorite button is "Transpose".

Many players that are visually challanged prefer those keys (B, F#)because of hand placement. It's so much easier to "see" a scale when you have the bumps of the black keys to "shape" the scale. The key of "C" is one of the toughest to visualize without sight. It's all flat!
