Also the most important question for me as well Vic. If it has the same key feel s the PSR line does now, I'll pass, no matter how good the rest of the board is.

I can't guess at all except to say that I would expect some improvement in some areas over the 2100 with a list price of about $ 300.00 more. The expanded wav rom jumps right out at me, but I hope key feel is among the improvements as well.

Is this a go between the Tyros and the current PSR line or does it replace the 2100 ? Or.. is it a response to the KN stuff and / or PA1x speaker version ( we aren't hearing very much about the latter to this point are we ) ?

BTW I love silver boards... Black is ok too.. I just don't wanna see a hokey reprise of the PSR700xx series stuff.

mike,i don,t think your guess was right ,i think maybe yamaha liked your idea of the psr3000,and said yes thats what we will call it,my opinion is ,over the last year steve has heard a lot of groans about key size and feel ,i reckon this could be the next board that is going to give us all, sorry most of the options we want with larger speakers ,if it is i will certainly consider it,mike

You can bet that Yamaha is not going to change the key size on their arrangers any time soon. They've been doing it that way for many years, and the uproar isn't nearly loud enough. Maybe it's because Japanese people as a rule are smaller!
Be aware also that Yamaha starts hyping new keyboards usually a full year ahead of their availability. One exception was the 2100, but it wasn't really new, but a makeover of the 2000.

Hope you're right. I won't hold my breath though!
I won't be interested anyway unless it has OS in RAM.

Excellent news for me, thanks for sharing!

My purchase of the PSR2100 fell through (my bank couldn't use their banking details, they couldn't take PayPal or CC) so I bought the Technics KN2600. At heart I must be a Yamaha fan cause when I read this I said Yippee! I guess I'll be looking out for the release of the PSR3000! In the meantime I'll be getting to grips with the KN2600... or perhaps the Technics will convert me?

True, but even with a 'flashable OS' , it won't do much good, unless the keyboard manufacter actually releases OS updates which address the known issues, like the mistakenly omitted footpedal activated 'repeating fill to self' feature on the Tyros. I just couldn't resist using this as an opportunity to remind everyone (once again). - Scott

bluezplayer,i think it is being released due to technics and paix and its got to be a lot better than 2100,hopefully we might be pleasantly surprised,if maybe steve lets out SOME info soon we may be tempted to wait, i,m hoping the key feel will be an improvement, they have it on some of their cheaper boards, why not the psr3000, mike

Hi,
actually makes you wonder if we're going to get a new catergory of keyboards in general mid to high price range or whether these may replace the top end arrangers ( they have stated to get rather pricey).

Yamaha's psr 2100 is Technics kn2600 equiv.
Yamaha's Tyros is Technics kn7000 equiv.

now all of a sudden there's an in between priced board. I would have thought next years main keyboard would have been a Tyros replacement. Stranger still that there hasn't been a new top end Roland to replace VA7.
If memory serves me correctly , most manufacturers used to update keyboard models every couple of years?

Maybe the manufacturers are going to surprise ( or shock ) us, which ever way wyou want to look at it. (haahaa)

best wishes
Rikki
