I have recently obtained a Korg PA50 to marry up with my PSR3000. I know there are a multitude of options in connecting these two boards together depending how you wish to use them Master /Slave or leave each independent.
I would like some feedback please from players who have connected any two board combination so that I can decide which option to take.....Thank you.

I never liked to midi two arrangers together..If i were going to use two arrangers ,I would leave them independent of each other..

If you really need to midi them..maybe key feel is a factor,[the Korg is better then the Yamaha]..Just set the note to arranger channel transmitted from the Korg to the Yamaha..and control the instruments of both by their individual volume controls..
Also make sure your transpose function is set to transpose midi..

I tried to connect my Pa80 to my Roland fantom Xa. I wanted to select a patch on the Roland when I selected a performance on the Korg. So the Korg was master.
And then, I was surprised to see that the Pa80 doesn't send specific program change codes!
I wasn't able to call up a patch on the Roland because there is nothing on the Pa80 that permit to choose a specific program change number.
Maybe I am wrong, I am not a midi expert.
If you can, please give us some feedback.

To add for my own esperience, I, like Fran, I do not midi them. Perhaps because I am a former organist, I am use to several keyboards.
I almost feel "naked" with only one keyboard, I used the 3000 and the PA60 for almost a year before replacing the 3000 for the Tyros2, I use them currently independantly, I also use 2 VOlume pedals (in a board I put them very close so with my foot can balance the 2 boards at the same time, also, 2 sustain pedals). And before the PSR 3000 I used the Ketron SD1 with the Korg PA60 too.
Besides the factory stlyes, I have a selected huge user styles in both, I never get bored and so my audiences, as an example, I can play let's say 20 foxtrots one after another without repeating pattern, with a great pallete of stlyes and sounds, is GREAT !!

I would strongly suggest you use them as two seperate keyboards. It is way much easier and it will save you a lot of aggravation in testing it out the other way.

I tried this with my Tyros and a KN2600. Not only did I want to do as you mentioned, but to be able to switch back and forth quickly and easily between songs etc.

Guess what. It is not even remotely worth trying out.

On top of that I tried to use the voices from the Tyros in the Technics styles. While it did sound pretty good once gotten there again it was very, very difficult to do.

IMHO you would do well to just drop the idea.

If you can't resist and would like to play around with this out of curiosity, I would love to hear of you experiences. Hopefully they would be a lot better than mine.

I was very interested in this subject myself, buts becoming a real bummer.

I tried doing this with the WK3500 and the PSR3000. It was painful and so frustrating, wrote it off to my lack of knowledge.

It explains why so many people are grabbing at the next best board to get slight enhancement or 2, and not adding onto or growing into the quality board that they already have.
