In addition to US Skype Users being able to call (24 hour unlimted) for FREE (until Dec 31, 2006) any land line or cell phone within the USA & Canada, Skype has added yet another incentive for US Skype users to download & install Skype:

FREE (unlimted) calls from your PC to any landline/cell telephone located in these foreign Countries on these specific July 2006 weekend dates:

United Kingdom: July 15-16
Mexico: July 22-23
Japan: July 29-30

Of course Skype Users calling from PC to PC located any place on earth remains FREE. If you haven't downloaded, installed, and taken advantage of Skype yet, get on board . . . Skype Rocks!

I agree, Skype is really something. A few weeks ago I looked at it for my wife, who regularly has to make conference calls to London and some other european locations. With the software and a very inexpensive webcam (on both ends of the call) you can have live videoconferencing FREE. And the fidelity of the audio and the video is amazingly good with a decent broadband connect.

My wife felt (and I agree) that the call was good enough, but being able to SEE the person you are talking to is really the dramatic change in the communication's effect. Especially when you have not met them face-to-face.

We think it's a terrific innovation.

So Cajun100...are you sharing your Skype name with the SZ members that are using Skype? There are about 30 of us that I know about..

Fran, it is only on my wife's computer so far (I test everything on hers - LOL). And I don't dare let her converse with the membership here.

But I think I will install it on mine this w/e. Then I shall join this illustrious group. I have never enjoyed an online exchange more than SZ. This is good territory.

I've heard of Skype but I've never used it before. I had no idea it was FREE...I'll have to definitely look into this Scott! Thanks for posting this out.

I've seen that MajorNelson.com uses it for his gaming blogcasts every now and then and I was thinking about doing the same thing for my website.

So, is all I need a microphone hooked up to my PC?
